Our IPL/Laser Hair Removal treatments are becoming very popular at Pure Emporium. The treatment works by directing Intense Pulsed Light to the skin, which is then absorbs by the melanin in your hair. This then produces heat. This heat damages the hair and the follicle in such a way that it prevents and stops hair growth.
This will only work with the hairs in the “growth / active” stage of the hair cycle, and once treated, they will naturally fall out within 1-3 weeks. A course of sessions is required to treat all the hairs, as they will all be in different stages of their cycle.

Tip 1: Be Honest During Your Consultation
In our previous blog, we spoke about the importance of a Laser Consultation.
A Laser Consultation is SO important! Without this, we cannot go ahead with any Laser or IPL Treatments. In fact, it is the most important step during your journey with laser.
During your consultation, we ask that you’re honest about your medical history, UV exposure, skin type and sensitivity. For Hair Removal, we also need to find out about your hair colour and density. We recommend that you have hair present in the area to be treated, for your consultation.
It’s important that you’re honest. This will allow us to do our best when it comes to achieving results.
Tip 2: Book A Course Of Treatments
For best results with IPL/Laser Hair Removal, we ALWAYS recommend booking a course of treatments. A course of sessions will ensure that we treat all the hairs in the area, as each hair will be in a different cycle.
For body areas, we recommend a course of 6 treatments.
For face areas, we recommend a course of 8 treatments.

Tip 3: Shave For Your Hair Removal Appointment
For your consultation, we ask that you leave hair in the area, so that we can determine your hair colour and density.
For you actual hair removal appointment, we recommend removing the hair from the area to be treated using a razor. This can be done the night before or the morning of your appointment.
During your IPL Hair Removal Course, you MUST NOT do any plucking/waxing in the areas. This will stop you from achieving the best result.
Tip 4: Avoid Sun Exposure & Self Tanning
There is a minimum of 4 weeks required since your last UV sun exposure to treat you with IPL and the skin colour must be back to it’s normal tone.
Any fake tan must also be removed from the treatment site (we recommend no fake tan for 1 week prior to treatment).
If the skin is tanned, it has a higher level of melanin in the surrounding areas to the hair. This will create more heat, and you will be susceptible to burns / blisters / pigmentation issues.
Tip 5: Avoid Gym & Swimming Post-Treatment
After your IPL Hair Removal treatment, we recommend that you leave the areas free of any product for 24-48 hours. As well as this, we wouldn’t advise going to the gym or swimming during this timeframe. We do not want to cause any irritation after your treatment.
The areas may feel warm but they will be cooled down during and after the treatment to ensure things are comfortable. We will end the treatment with a light soothing moisturiser with calming and anti-bacterial effects.
